Low-Conductivity Additive Packages and Finished Fluids METALGUARD E SERIES

METALGUARD® low-conductivity additive packages and glycol-based finished fluids are for use in applications which require both efficient heat transfer and low electrical conductivity. Low-conductivity coolant can be required for applications that require electrical insulation for performance and safety. Coolants made with METALGUARD® E-5000 additive maintains a stable, low-conductivity over a long period of time through E-5000’s proprietary formulation of non-ionic corrosion inhibitors. This mechanism is essential to maintain safe operation of battery-powered and other electronics cooling applications. In addition to the E-5000 additive package, WEBA Technology offers finished low-conductivity coolants for customers who do not have access to low-conductivity deionized water and/or ethylene glycol.

Glycol and glycol/water-based low-conductivity coolants not only provide efficient heat transfer they can also provide freeze protection. Some specific applications are direct battery cooling in electric vehicles, cooling of fuel cells in vehicles and other equipment powered by them, immersion cooling of computer components in data storage centers for computers and AI, in certain transformer cooling systems, electrical welding torches, certain optical and medical devises, etc.

METALGUARD E additives and fluids are designed to protect aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, and titanium. The finished fluids are compatible with most elastomers and other materials including silicon rubber, viton, EPDM and graphite, but are not compatible with carbon steel, cast iron, or zinc/galvanized steel. METALGUARD low-conductivity products should never be used in internal combustion engine cooling systems.

Products are available in standard packaging including: 55 gallon / 208 liter drums; 275 gallon / 1041 liter totes, and bulk tank trucks.

METALGUARD® E-5000

The additive METALGUARD® LEC-5000 allows customers to make their own finished fluid using base fluids of low-conductivity glycol and deionized water.

METALGUARD® E-5100

METALGUARD® LEC-5100 is a finished fluid that has ≤100 microsiemens/cm in the finished product. Making it useful for coolants in electric vehicles and other industrial cooling systems. LEC-5100 Coolant meets ASTM D8566, the specification for low-conductivity electric vehicle coolant, which has a requirement for finished coolant with ≤100 microsiemens/cm.

METALGUARD® E-5500

METALGUARD® LEC-5500 is a finished fluid that has ≤5 microsiemens/cm in the finished product. At this very low level of conductivity the LEC-5500 fluid is perfect for high-tech data center cooling systems (including AI data centers, fuel cell cooling and more. LEC-5500 Coolant meets ASTM D8565 which is the specification for hydrogen fuel cell coolant which has a requirement of finished coolant with ≤5 microsiemens/cm in the finished product.
